Since Technomedia joined the Cegid family in December, I’ve come to learn a lot about the retail world and how talent management truly aligns with the overall success of our retail customers which is a very large practice for Cegid.

Technomedia attended our first National Retail Federation Big Show in January and let me tell you that conference made HR Technology’s expo hall look meager compared to the enormous event taking place at the Javits Convention Center in New York. We followed this show with our own Cegid Connections – The Americas user conference in March in San Diego where we talked to hundreds of retail customers about their business challenges, and not surprising, many of them were employee related.

What I have personally found in my discovery in learning more about the retail side of our business, and from reading a host of research reports out in the market today on the subject, is how truly connected store operations and talent management really are. Hiring, retention, training, workforce planning and the like all still rank as the top initiatives impacting a retailer’s success and their ability to sustain and grow their business. It’s not technology, front office or back. It’s not supply chain or inventory management. Or even how they are using and maximizing their point of sale solutions. It’s about their people. Talent management is no longer an HR issue it is a STORE OPERATIONS one and the CEOs know it.
